to pull off an Enrichment Christmas dinner! Last night was ours, and as the Enrichment counselor, I was a wee bit nervous. I figured that no matter what, it would all be over in a matter of hours, but I was worried there wouldn't be enough food. And we sort of ran out of main dishes, so that one fear did come true. But all in all, it was a great evening.
Our theme was "Christmas Around the World" and women signed up to bring displays and food dishes from different countries. We also had women set individual tables with their Christmas place settings. The cultural hall really looked beautiful. And it was wonderful to see how willing people were to help. When my Enrichment leader found out she couldn't come a few days before, the YW presidency volunteered to come early and help me and the committee set up and clean up. They were all so great. We had a special program after dinner, with narration about different Christmas traditions and beautiful songs. The program was really wonderful.
Of course, my OCD kicked in last night at 10:15 when I worried that I hadn't turned the oven at the church off (I had been keeping my lasagna warm before the dinner). Unlike normal people who would have just trusted they had turned it off, I had to trudge back out into the snow (in my pj's, no less) to check. It was off, of course.
I'm so glad it's over... glad it went well... but mostly just glad it's over. :)

oh my sweet sister! Aren't you glad you had a key to the chapel? Otherwise you would have to have chosen whether to wake the RS president and explain, or lie awake all night worrying! I'm so glad the party went well, but most importantly WENT!
Oh Tennille, I was once the enrichment counselor and soooo related to your post. It's always nice that it went well, but it's also such a relief when it's over :) I'm really sad I missed it, sounds so fun.
Yes, the craziness of the calling does come with the perks of keys. Although, I do have several keys that don't appear to open anything... :)
Oh Neelie... (Or should I call you Mom) Shawn still likes to laugh when I tell him about mom walking by the stove before bed or before she leaves the house, saying "off. off, off, off, off" Between that and the fact that we both itch our ear the same weird way that mom does, I guess we're more like her than we thought. Unfortunately, when I'm worried about things I tend to dream about them. For YW in Excellence I was dreaming about the food the entire night before since I was in charge. Lately I've been dreaming about demos for work...and the twins and trying to nurse. Glad you had keys!

I probably wasn't helping your anxiety level by pacing the halls, but I was really enjoying the freedom from kids and the peace and quiet!
I think Alyson did a great job putting the program together. I loved listening to the different cultural traditions and hearing and singing music from all over the world.
She did do a great job. And your numbers were great as well. :)
The dinner was so great!!! It was so good to go at such a crazy time of year and just feel the spirit and have a great dinner. I totally would have to go back to the church. I have to check my doors to make sure they are locked at leas 3 times every night. I know they are locked but I can not sleep so I go check them Thanks for the great night : )
The Christmas around the world theme was so great! I think that everything went well. Tennille you did awesome and everyone else involved!
Tennille, it sounds like such a wonderful activity. I need to call you and pick your brain for some ideas. Don't you hate the oven thing. I do that all the time. My problem is I usually have left the oven on. Jarren likes to give me a hard time for that.
